Steller Systems Supports University Interns

Thursday, August 22nd, 2024

As the end of summer approaches, we bid farewell to our talented summer interns, Samuel Bradford and James Baines.

James Baines has been working with our team in Hamble to develop a fully parametric model of a twisted rudder that can be analysed with CFD and FEA and be utilised by our in-house Deep Learning design optimisation techniques. James has also conducted structural assessments and CAD modelling tasks, and has completed a comprehensive study into USVs. James is currently studying Ship Science at the University of Southampton.

Meanwhile Sam Bradford, currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Durham University, has designed and constructed a model of our Frigate design, SPARTAN, utilising our in-house 3D printing facility. Working with our team in Gloucestershire, Sam has also made valuable contributions to other active projects, including conducting research on unmanned vessels and supporting a project to optimise a transatlantic rowing vessel.

It has been a pleasure having both Sam and James with us, and we are proud to have supported their professional growth and development. We wish them the best of luck with the remainder of their studies!
